Alsogaray Takes Central and South American Laser Title
Julio Alsogaray (ARG) posted another race win on the final day to win the Central South American Laser Standard Championship.

Julio Alsogaray (ARG) posted another race win on the final day to win the Central South American Laser Standard Championship.
The last day of the championship started with 20 kts of wind from the North East. But by the time for the races were due to start the wind had decreased to 4 kts and the Race Committee postponed the start. Competitors waited until 15:30 for the wind to increase a little bit (just 5 kts from the East) and start racing.
The race was won by home favourite, Olympic sailor, Julio Alsogaray who won five of seven races in the championship.
With seven races completed, the final results were:
1 Julio Alsogaray (ARG) 7 pts
2 Bruno Fontes (BRA) 21 pts
3 Alejandro Foglia (URU) 25 pts
The Laser 4.7 fleet were unable to complete any more races so the final positions after five races remain unchanged.
1 Lucía Falasca (ARG) 9 pts
2 Alonso Collantes de Riglos (PER) 10 pts
3 María Cristina Knudsen Bobaid (BRA) 13 pts
The Central South American Laser Standard and Laser 4.7 Championship started on 6 March with competitors from Argentina, Brasil, Chile, United States, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and El Salvador. 53 of them sailed in Laser Standard and 34 in Laser 4.7.
The Jury was composed by Fernando Sanjurjo, José María Sanchez Pagano, Martín Sánchez, Pedro Paulo Petersen and Luis Velasco. The Race Officer was Federico Ambrus.

From 31 March the Yacht Club Argentina will have the Mac Laren Laser 4.7 Youth and Laser Standard under 21 World Championships in which will participate sailors from more than 20 countries of the world. All the information about these events is available at http://www.laserworld2012.org.ar/
