WSSRC Ratifies The 60 Ft Monohull 24 Hour Distance Record

The World Sailing Speed Record Council have announced the ratification of a new World Record.

Virbac Paprec 3 broke the 60 ft Monohull 24 Hour Distance Record after covering 506.333 NM at an average speed of 21.1 knots from 11:00 UTC on 21 January and 11:00 UTC 22 January 2011 in the Barcelona World Race.

Jean Pierre Dick and Loick Peyron (FRA) beat Alex Thompson and Andrew Cape’s (GBR) previous record of 501.3 NM at an average speed of 20.9 knots on Hugo Boss in the 2007 Barcelona World Race.
