Perth 2011 Qualification - Additional Places

The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships take place in Perth, Western Australia from 3-18 December 2011. Competition will take place in the 10 sailing events selected for the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition.

As well as hosting the battle for World Championship glory, Perth 2011 will be the principal qualification regatta for the sailing events of the London 2012 Olympic Games. These twin attractions are expected to bring approximately 1,300 sailors representing 70+ nations to Fremantle Harbour in December 2011, making the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships the largest single-event ever held for the Olympic sailing events.

Qualification for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships is decided on a national basis. Every ISAF Member National Authority (MNA) is entitled to one priority place in each event.

For the nine fleet racing events there is a maximum of six entries per nation per event. The main portion of qualification places have been granted based on nation’s results at the 2010 qualification event listed below:

The full list of additional places granted to MNAs based on these results can be found in the Summary document.

Further to these additional places, places will also be granted based on the ISAF World Sailing Rankings on 30 June 2011. The final allocation, up to 10% of the quota for each event, is reserved for the Qualification Commission.

Women’s Match Racing
For the women’s match racing event there is a maximum of two entries per nation. Subject to the number of MNAs applying for priority places, additional places for the women’s match racing event will be granted based on the ISAF Women’s Match Race World Rankings as of 30 June 2011.

Full details of how MNAs can enter and pay for their places at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships will be published in the Notice of Race later this year.
