Switzerlands Alexandra Rayroux Is Just Happy To Be In Singapore

Rayroux has been sailing for less than two years and trains at the Societe Nautique de Geneve, where she is coached by the Argentine Ezequiel Schargorodsky.

She was selected for a special elite group set up by the Swiss Sailing Federation with the Youth Olympic Games in mind.

“I am thrilled for her, this is such a fairytale,” said Schargorodsky.

At home, Rayroux faces a long commute to the French coast to get ocean experience and often has to do her school homework on the train.

“It is a relief to get out on the ocean here, I really like it here,” she said of competing in Singapore. “In Switzerland I never get any wind.”
