Despite growing up on Lake Geneva, Sebastien Schneiter (SUI) almost ended up pursuing a career in skiing rather than on the water.

He was interested in water skiing and fishing, but during winter his passion was for the mountain slopes and he was a highly ranked slalom competitor.

However, Schneiter took up sailing after he went out on the water with his father, Alexandre.

He is now a member of the Societe Nautique de Geneve sailing club, where he has been trained by head coach Ezequiel Schargorodsky (ARG) since 2006.

Schneiter won the 2010 Swiss laser 4.7 championship and sealed qualification for the Youth Olympic Games with his performance at the 2010 World Byte Championships event in Cannes, France.

He often trains in the South of France and has to fit school work around his competitions. He also does promotional work as a youth sports ambassador.

Schneiter’s mother, Marie, arranges his arranges his itinerary, while his father is responsible for his kit.
