2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships - Bid Guidelines Published

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has publshed bid guidelines for hosting the 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

The ISAF Sailing World Championships brings together the World Championships of all the events included in the Olympic Sailing Competition.

At the ISAF Mid-Year Meeting in Hungary in May, the ISAF Council approved a change to ISAF Regulation 17.2.1 concerning the scheduling of the ISAF Worlds.  Historically, the ISAF Worlds was held every four years, the year before the Olympic Sailing Competition, and the next event is due to take place in 2011.  The change to the ISAF Regulations means that the following event will take place in 2014 and not 2015.

ISAF therefore has publised guidelines for venues intending to bid to host the 2014 ISAF Worlds and outlined a schedule for the bidding process. The decision as to where the 2014 ISAF Worlds will take place will be made by the ISAF Executive Committee in February 2011 following the advice of the Evaluation Commission.

For more information about the bidding process please contact the ISAF Secretariat.
