WADA Outreach Programme A Big Success In Istanbul

The World Anti-Doping Agency set up the WADA Athlete Outreach programme on the dockside at the venue of the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships in Istanbul.

The Play True Quiz was developed as the core element of WADA’s Athlete Outreach activities helping the sporting community gain a greater understanding about the anti-doping issue.

On the second day of the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Istanbul the entire fleet of nearly 350 boats were waiting ashore in hot and humid conditions waiting for the sea breeze to fill.

Sailors from most of the 60 nations competing and many of their coaches, took part in the programme which proved to be an outstanding success.

Coaches from Turkey, France and Cyprus particularly applauded the programme and many coaches requested copies of the Play True Quiz be sent to them for future use as an educational tool.

The quiz was also played in teams with great competition and rivalry. Overall the Ukraine team won scoring maximum points of 10/10 in the fastest time. Congratulations go to the Ukraine team.

Rustu Guner from the Turkish NOC helped with the programme. Navy blue towels with WADA and ISAF logos were prizes and became collectors items later in the day. Coaches and sailors were given wallet sized prohibited lists.
