Lead Changes As Winds Increase At 49er Europeans
A clearing breeze after yesterday's rain raised the game for many teams. The conditions on both courses had the wind in the mid-teens with gusts in the 20's, causing many exciting reaches and gybes among the fleets.

A clearing breeze after yesterday’s rain raised the game for many teams. The conditions on both courses had the wind in the mid-teens with gusts in the 20’s, causing many exciting reaches and gybes among the fleets.
Pietro Sibello and Gianfranco Sibello of Italy won both races today to propel them to the top but with only a one point lead over British sailors Stephen Morrison and Ben Rhodes with fellow Brittish team Chris Draper and Peter Greenhalgh closing the gap, just one point behind Morrison & Rhodes.
Yesterday’s leaders Nico Delle – Karth and Nikolaus Resch of Austria sailed a an eigth and DNF when they broke their forestay in the last race of the day.
Today’s qualification determines the fleets for gold silver & bronze, which will begin tomorrow and sail through July 10. The forecast calls for lighter winds.
