Aussies Roll On At the 29er Worlds
The Australians hit their stride again on the first day of finals racing at the 29er World Championships on Lake Garda, Italy taking the top three positions in the gold fleet after four races were completed.

Steven THOMAS (AUS) and Blair TUKE (NZL) have nine points with all five results in the top three which gives them a 20 point lead on Australians Lauren JEFFRIES and Nathan OUTTERIDGE. Three points further back on 32 is the new 49er world champion’s younger sister Haylee Outteridge sailing with her brothers crew Iain JENSEN.
Judge RYAN and Matt NOBLE (USA) started off well with a 7-3 but had a mishap when Ryan fell out of the boat in race 4 and an OCS in race 5 drops them to 11th overall. Meanwhile the top youth team position is held by Max RICHARDSON and Alex GROVES (GBR) who hold fourth overall..
The Ora filled around noon today and was a steady 13-18 with puffs to 20 knots. While the Gold and Silver fleets were able to complete four races, the Bronze and Emerald were only able to finish three a piece.
Adam Larvin and Ed CHAPMAN of GBR lead the silver fleet, Stefan Gieser and Felix Meggendorfer (GER) the bronze and Nicklas Olrik and Jakob Lynnerup (DEN) lead the 53 boat emerald fleet.
Racing continues Friday and Saturday with the final series and to determine the 29er World Champions on Saturday.
