Italian team Faccena and Galassini win Vaurien Worlds
The Italian team of Marco FACCENDA and Gionvanni GALASSINI have won the Vaurien World Championship 2009 which was organized by the Sprot Nautique Bizertin Club on the North coast of Tunisia from 12 to 19 July.

The Italian team of Marco FACCENDA and Gionvanni GALASSINI have won the Vaurien World Championship 2009 which was organized by the Sprot Nautique Bizertin Club on the North coast of Tunisia from 12 to 19 July.
Wtih sixty sailors competing the racing was dominted by the Italian and Spanish crews. In second overall and also the first Juniors were Olmo CERRI and Edoardo MEINI (ITA). Jaime LEIROS and Alfonso LERIOS (ESP) completed the podium in third place whilst the Women’s World Champion title went to Silvia BENINI and Sara MARCHIONNI from italy.
The first Tunisian crew was KAROUI and Ali TRITER who finished 23rd. During the prize-giving ceremony the Transport Minister reminded the competitors of the particular interest President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali dedicates to events of this kind “which represent an opportunity for bringing together Tunisian youths and those from friendly and sisterly countries.”
For his part, Mr. Gian Piero Saggini, chairman of the International Vaurien Class Association (IVCA), voiced satisfaction at the way the Championship was organised, and announced that the 2010 Vaurien Worlds will be held in Slovakia.
