The 27th edition of the Student Yachting World Cup will take place in La Rochelle, on France?s Atlantic coast from 27 October-3 November 2007.
The competition is organized by an association composed of 20 students from the Ecole Polytechnique, a French science university. For 28 years, this competition, always organized in France, has gathered together as varied countries as Ireland (the present champions), Japan and the USA.
The principle of the Student Yachting World Cup (SYWoC) is the following: one team made up of students exclusively represents each country. The team is qualified by a national qualification race, or by past achievements.
But the SYWoC can only be successful by sharing the experience with as many people as possible. Different animations targeting the local population will take place at the same time as the races. A race village will be established to allow the public to follow the race, and allow crewmembers, organizers and the public to interact.
