Spinnaker Cloth Weight - Update
From data received with the cooperation of the cloth manufacturer, and from independent tests commissioned by ISAF, it has been concluded that Contender Superkote 60 must be considered to be below the minimum permitted cloth weight for Yngling Class spinnakers and therefore sails produced from this cloth are not in compliance with the class rules.
From data received with the cooperation of the cloth manufacturer, and from independent tests commissioned by ISAF, it has been concluded that Contender Superkote 60 must be considered to be below the minimum permitted cloth weight for Yngling Class spinnakers and therefore sails produced from this cloth are not in compliance with the class rules.
This ruling applies to all spinnakers including those already certified.
On this basis, the decision regarding sails eligible for use at the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships is that sails produced from cloth that fails to meet the minimum weight requirements of Yngling Class Rule G.4.2 are unlikely to pass through pre event equipment inspection.
