Optimists In Slovenia

From 6-8 April, Portoroz, Slovenia will play host to part of the Easter Optimist migration at the Nokia Easter Regatta Portoroz 2007. Yacht Club JK Pirat Portoroz is organixzing the 15th edition of the regatta – one of the biggest Optimist events in Europe.

In the Portoroz bay two years ago over 360 Optimist sailors competed, with over 260 last year. After last year’s excellent conditions and organization, around 300 youngsters are expected from ten nations.

Alongside the sailing, the JK Pirat Portoroz last year introduced other activities to entertain the competitors outside of racing hours, as well as organizing a raffle with the main prize of an Optimist boat.

Another Optimist will be out for grabs this year, along with a number of other surprises, as the club out the ante for the 15 anniversary edition of the regatta. A week before the regatta there is also a training camp where the young sailors can properly prepare themselves for the regatta.
