Qualfication at Stake
This weekend the second edition of the ISAF Grade 3 Y's cup Marseille will get underway at the Yachting Club de la Pointe Rouge in France. This year the winner of this event will be qualified for the ISAF Grade 1 event the Marseille International Match Race.
This weekend the second edition of the ISAF Grade 3 Y’s cup Marseille will get underway at the Yachting Club de la Pointe Rouge in France. This year the winner of this event will be qualified for the ISAF Grade 1 event the Marseille International Match Race.
Two of the top ten sailors in the ISAF World Match Race rankings heading an impressive line up. World number three Mathieu RICHARD (FRA) and world number seven Evgeny NEUGODNIKOV (RUS) will be looking for a confidence boosting performance before they go on to try and better the places he secured in Marseille last year. The Open and Young Match Racing French Champion, Pierre-Antoine MORVAN and Victor LANIER respectively, will also be going on to compete in this event giving them the opportunity to find some form and accustom themselves to the waters of Marseille.
Joining them in the French challenge are Michel COHEN and Dimitri DERUELLE and Florent GAGGERO both from the Yachting Club de La pointe Rouge.
Andrew ARBUZOV (RUS), Andrew CORNAH (GBR) and Neville WITTEY (AUS) will complete the line up.
Indeed, the Y’s cup (10 and 11 march) and the Marseille International Match Racing (14-18 march) constitute a ‘Marseille Match Racing Fortnight’.
