Australia's Brendan CASEY came out on top of the 62 strong fleet at the ISAF Grade C1 Laser North American Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Michael LEIGH (CAN) finished in second place to claim the title of Laser North American Champion.
Australia’s Brendan CASEY came out on top of the 62 strong fleet at the ISAF Grade C1 Laser North American Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Michael LEIGH (CAN) finished in second place to claim the title of Laser North American Champion.
CASEY was in fine form throughout the ten race series, with four consecutive bullets in races two to five putting him in a commanding position early on. Another four top three finishes were enough to give CASEY his second Laser title of the year.
21 year old Canadian LEIGH, the number nine in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings, put together a strong finish and secured second spot overall and first amongst the North American sailors with a bullet in the final race. Bernard LUTTMER (CAN) completed the top three, although a disappointing 13,9 finish resulted in the North American title slipping through his fingers.
David WRIGHT (CAN) came in fourth overall, just ahead of Chile’s Matias DEL SOLAR.
In the mixed Laser Radial regatta, an ISAF Grade 3 event for the women, Jerry TULLO (USA) came out on top, with Danielle DUBE (CAN) the top female in second place overall.
