Argentinaâ??s Day

The chopping and changing at the top of the leaderboard continued at the ISAF Grade C1 Laser Central And South American Championships in Punta del Este, Uruguay yesterday, with Argentina’s Serena AMATO now topping the Women’s Laser Radial standings.

Sailing in a mixed fleet, AMATO scored finishes of 6,7,3 to move into fourth position in the open standings, and top woman. 20 points back in seventh place overall is Cecilia CARRANZA (ARG), who also had an impressive day out on the water with results of 5,5,2. Day one leader Florencia CERUTTI (ARG) moved back up to third woman overall with a battling display to record finishes of 27,28,13.

Paula SALERNO (ARG) is fourth woman, with Chile’s Arantza GUMUCIO preventing a Argentinean clean sweep of the top five in fifth.

Overnight leader Odile GINAID (BRA) had a difficult day, with a 25,49,35 scoreline seeing her tumble down the women’s leaderboard to seventh.

In the open competition Fabio DUTRA (BRA) leads by twelve points.

The Yacht Club Punta del Este are hosting the Laser Central And South American Championships from 7-16 April. Ten races are scheduled for the series, with racing in the Laser Radial concluding today. The battle in the Laser and Laser 4.7 then gets underway from 12-16 April.
