Two Weeks Left To Apply For Youth Champs
Youth sailors have just two weeks left to apply for a spot on the starting line of the 2006 U.S. Youth Sailing Championship, the country's top event for young sailors organized by US SAILING, and the final qualifying event for a spot on the USA Team for the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship.

Youth sailors have just two weeks left to apply for a spot on the starting line of the 2006 U.S. Youth Sailing Championship, the country’s top event for young sailors organized by US SAILING, and the final qualifying event for a spot on the USA Team for the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship.
The event will be held from 22-29 June and hosted by Grosse Pointe Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Applications will be accepted until midnight, 15 March Eastern Standard Time. The event is sponsored by Vanguard Sailboats and Nautica.
This year, the Championship will be sailed in Lasers, Laser Radials, Club 420s and new for 2006, the 29er. A double-handed skiff much like the 49er Olympic Class, the 29er is being introduced as part of US SAILING’s Olympic development programme.

Following on from the RS:X qualifying at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club Olympic Classes Regatta, the Laser competition at the U.S. Youth Sailing Championship will act as the final qualifying event for the US Youth World Team for the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship, taking place in Weymouth, Great Britain from the 12-21 July.
