TUNNICLIFFE And RAILEY Battling For Victory

The final day of the ISAF Grade 1 Laser Midwinters East, gets underway today at the Clearwater Yacht Club in Florida. Ranked number 4 in the world, Anna TUNNICLIFFE is battling for the lead with the world’s number 1 ranked sailor in the Radial Paige RAILEY.

Between them, they have shared all of the race wins except for one which went to Tania ELIAS CALLES of Mexico, who sits just two points adrift in third. These three have a significant points margin over the rest of the fleet, and are likely to hold their top three places come the end of racing today.

The Radial event has attracted 94 entries, with a significant number of European competitors featuring well including Britain’s Laura BALDWIN, who is in fourth place after seven races, Evi VAN ACKER (BEL) in sixth and Ciara PEELO (IRL) in ninth.

In the 83 boat Laser fleet, Andrew CAMPBELL (USA) has an eleven point lead from Brad FUNK (USA). Michael KALIN of Canada is in third place with Maciej GRABOWSKI (POL) fourth in the 83 boat fleet. With a world ranking of 38, CAMPBELL will be hoping to defend his Midwinters East title, first claimed last year.

In the Laser 4.7 fleet, Courtney KUEBEL (USA) leads from Grady TIMMINS (USA).

Ten races are scheduled across the three fleets.
