Hobie 16 ISAF Youth Worlds Champion Evan WALKER (AUS) had a fantastic day on the water winning five out his six matches at the ISAF Grade 3 RNZYS Youth International Match Racing Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, including a win against leading skipper Torvar MIRSKY (AUS).
MIRSKY‘s loss in that match came as a consequence of a black flag, and he still leads with a total of twelve wins, with WALKER joining David WOOD (NZL) on nine wins, whilst Phil ROBERTSON (NZL) lies just behind on eight.
WALKER reflected, ‘Our crew work really came together and we are settled into the boat a bit better now, Kyle [LANGFORD] and Jamie [WOODS] were really working hard today.’ He explained that the crew set up is bedding down well, ‘Kyle and I have done the last two seasons together, but this is the first time sailing with Jamie and he is working with us really well.’
He continued, ‘Despite having three losses yesterday we were still really pleased with how things went and just a few things didn’t go our way – so today we just had a bit more luck.’
