23 Teams Confirmed, Start Moved

23 teams are paid up and confirmed for the seventh Philippine Hobie Challenge, which will now be starting from San Jose on the Luzon mainland.

Organizers are still hoping the entry list will jump up to 25 as well, with the Philippine Sailing Association possibly fielding a team who will be preparing in readiness for the Asian Games in Doha. Additionally Erin PRELYPCHAN is hoping to find a skipper. Sadly her original partner, Philippine Hobie Challenge 3 winner Chris STEILBERG, is unable to make it this year.

PRELYPCHAN owns a three year old A1 condition boat and is looking for an experienced skipper to partner up with her on the challenge. Please email phc@philhobie.com if you think you fit the requirements and would be interested in teaming up with her.

The organizers are also announcing an amendment to the course. The logistics to transport the boats and entire entourage plus the venue within Catanduanes were proving too difficult to organize.

The start of the Seventh Challenge has been moved to the Luzon mainland; possibly San Jose at the base of the scenic Caramoan Peninsular in Camarines Sur province. The Organizers are planning on scouting along the eastern coast of Albay towards Tabako Bay next week to see if there is a better venue closer to the Monday night stopover in Gubat.
