A New Quadrennium Sees New Classes
Following the ISAF general assembly meeting in November regarding the changes to the Olympic classes, the Europe has been replaced by the Laser Radial as the single handed class for women and the Mistral replaced by the Neil Pryde RSX as the Olympic Windsurfer.
Following the ISAF general assembly meeting in November regarding the changes to the Olympic classes, the Europe has been replaced by the Laser Radial as the single handed class for women and the Mistral replaced by the Neil Pryde RSX as the Olympic Windsurfer.
Sail Melbourne will continue to conduct the advertised program of events although the Europe and the Mistral will now be considered Invited Classes for the Olympic and Invited Classes Regatta at Sandringham Yacht Club. The Mistral Oceanic Continental Championships will still be held as part of the Sail Melbourne Olympic and Invited Classes Regatta and the Mistral Warm up will go ahead. The Laser Radial will now be included as an Olympic Class rather than an Invited Class. As there will not be any Neil Pryde RSX boards, foils and rigs available in time for Sail Melbourne 2005 it will not be included in the Olympic and Invited Classes Regatta. Sail Melbourne will provide prize money to the Olympic classes, now including the Laser Radial. Sail Melbourne will continue to provide prize money for the Mistral (only) covered in the Notice of Race through Section 16 which states that ‘The Organising Committee may award additional prizes’ in consideration of the lack of Neil Pryde RSX equipment.
