The Carriacou Junior Sailing Club in conjunction with the Carriacou Sailing Series held a training clinic for the junior sailors from Tyrell Bay and Windward followed by racing in the afternoon, on Saturday 13th November.

The Carriacou Junior Sailing Club in conjunction with the Carriacou Sailing Series held a training clinic for the junior sailors from Tyrell Bay and Windward followed by racing in the afternoon, on Saturday 13th November.


The complete fleet of 10 Optimist dinghies in Carriacou were out in Tyrell Bay which maximized the training and racing for the junior sailors.


The Grenada Yacht Club dinghy instructor Randy Manwarring spent the weekend in Carriacou teaching the junior sailors with the assistance of Jacqui Pascall, the President of Grenada Sailing Association. This was the first training visit for Randy in Carriacou but more visits are scheduled.


Twenty two junior sailors were able to take part in the training clinic and support was given by Max Goldhill the junior instructor from Windward and Ted Tuson from Tyrell Bay. Budget Marine sponsored useful prizes and various gifts were donated by kind supporters of the event and special thanks must go out to everyone involved.

During the evening the Carriacou Sailing Series committee together with the Yacht Services Association of Trinidad & Tobago (YSATT) presented to the Grenada Sailing Association President a check for EC$15,000.00 to support the Junior Sailing Program in the future. The President thanked the regatta participants who had donated all prize monies to this worthy cause and made mention of the terrific support that the Trinidad sailors had shown in the immediate days following Hurricane Ivan.
