Classic sea breeze sailing for the Farr 40’s racing off Pittwater on the final day of the Inner Circle Rum regatta.
After yesterday, Marcus Blackmore’s Emotional Hooligan had a five point break on the fleet, leading the series from Steve O’Rourke’s Panther with the David Urry helmed Brighton Star in third place ahead of Richard Perini sailing Evolution.
Before the fourth race had even started this morning, the sea breeze had already established, 10 knots from the north east.
Richard Perini’s Evolution opted for the left hand side of the first upwind leg. This paid dividends and Perini rounded the top mark in front and held on to win. Lang Walker’s Kokomo was second and Blackmore’s Emotional Hooligan was third.
An increasing breeze for race five. Richard Perini’s Evolution won from Emotional Hooligan with Matt Allen’s Ichiban 15 seconds behind, third. The final race of the regatta, the breeze reached 17 knots and surfing to the finish in perfect conditions Ichi Ban took the gun with Evolution second and Kokomo third.
Marcus Blackmore’s Emotional Hooligan crossed the line in fourth to win the regatta. ‘It’s great to be back in the hunt and racing in a competitive fleet. It will make things very interesting for the upcoming worlds’ commented Blackmore.
