Hatrick for Bermuda
Elijah SIMMONS gained gold for Bermuda for their third year in succession with a convincing third place in the final race of the IODA North American Championship. 119 sailors from 12 nations competed in the event hosted by the Texas Corinthian Yacht Club

USA challenger Austen ANDERSON from Centerpoint YC on Long Island NY sailed a discard but was still far enough ahead to take silver ahead of Stephanie ROBLE (Lake Beulah YC. WI) and reigning champion Sean BOUCHARD (BER).
Among the girls Haruka KOMIYA (JPN) and last year’s best girl Susannah PYATT (NZL) took the minor open medals ahead of North American medallists Amanda JOHNSON (USA) and Eleanor GARDNER (BER).
Team Racing
In a first round shock second seeds Mexico went our after losses to Canada, USA 2 and USA 3. Almost as surprising was the second round elimination of Argentina and Brazil by the unfancied USA 3 team.
In the semi-finals top seeds Bermuda beat Japan 2-0 and USA 3 beat USA 1 by 2-1, and in the finals Bermuda beat USA 3 while USA 1 beat Japan for third place. The outcome was therefore:
1. Bermuda
2. USA 3
3. USA 1
4. Japan
