Caribbean Special

57 sailors from eleven islands and the US mainland participated in the SCOTIABANK CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST REGATTA in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands last weekend.

This is very much of a fun festival with several islands not sending their most experienced sailors but racing still took place in winds gusting to 20 knots. Official results are scored according to age and experience but the top ten over-all were:

4. Adrian Hernandez, Puerto Rico
5. Lance Fraser, Bermuda
6. Mayumi Roller, St. John, USVI
7. Fernando Monllor, Puerto Rico
8. Ard Van Aanholt, Curacao, AHO
9. William Bailey, St. Thomas, USVI
10. Alistair Affoo, Trinidad

This was the first outing for ten sailors from the newly formed Optimist fleet in the Dominican Republic.
