Geronimo Struggles To Keep On Pace

At 23:00 GMT on Wednesday 14 April, the position of the trimaran Geronimo was 24°54S, 39°53W, off Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran was still suffering from a weak easterly trade wind of just 12 knots, which continued to rob Olivier DE KERSAUSON and his crew of any real speed.

The day ended with 230 nautical miles covered point-to-point, at an average speed of 9.6 knots.

The trimaran continued to struggle towards the more northerly latitudes where the crew hope to find stronger and more consistent trade winds. In doing so, they are on a north-easterly track designed to keep them well away from the north-south current flowing down the coast of Brazil.
