New Event Announced

The New York Yacht Club (NYYC) announced today the inaugural New York Yacht Club Invitational Racing Series for Vintage and Classic Yachts.

The three-regatta series, to debut this summer at Harbour Court, the NYYC’s on-the-water clubhouse in Newport, RI, should bring together some of the most spectacular and historically significant vintage and classic yachts.

It will consist of the NYYC’s 150th Annual Regatta and NYYC’s Race Week at Newport – both presented by Rolex — and the Museum of Yachting’s Classic Yacht Regatta, celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Prizes will be awarded for the series, as well as for each of the three events.

Racing is for vintage and classic yachts built prior to 1965 of wood or steel and using traditional building methods. Both handicap and Meter classes will be invited and are likely to attend. In addition, a Concourse d’Elegance award will be offered for both sail and power yachts during the Classic Yacht Regatta to recognize excellence in restoration and presentation of these fine yachts.
