Acaia Cube the Farr Nauta 80DS skippered by Carlo FILLIPONI arrived in Antigua this morning after a quick and enjoyable passage of just over 12 days.

Arriving at 0423 local time, Acaia Cube had a fantastic last twenty four hour sail with the trade winds blowing strongly and sunshine blazing, the yacht eating up the last remaining miles to Antigua.

Sadly for the crew , with a draft over 12 feet, Acaia Cube is unable to navigate easily into Jolly Harbour , the risk of grounding high. As a result they have for time being moved to English Harbour on the south side of the island where the deeper waters pose no risk. Whilst the crew were no doubt eager to touch land at Jolly Harbour, with the level of luxury afforded on Acaia Cube, they are probably in no rush !

Preparations in Jolly Harbour for the fleets arrival are well underway with a great buzz in air as local bars , restaurants and workers await the arrival of the fleet and their jubilant crews. The marina and surrounding areas are looking green and luscious following weeks of torrential rain, the feeling of being in the tropics clear from several miles away at sea.

A steady flow of arrivals is expected over the weekend.
