Jersey Creams The Opposition

Simon ROWELL and his victorious Jersey crew yesterday crossed the finish line of the fourteenth race of the Clipper 2002 Series at Ambrose Light House at 15:45 GMT.

This 4,078 nautical mile race from Salvador to New York has been dominated by the Jersey Clipper team, who have led the eight-strong fleet since the 15:00 hours schedule on Wednesday, 6 August.

It will now take another 4 hours for the winners to motor up the mighty Hudson to the Intrepid-Sea-Air-Space Museum. The champagne and beers await though, with Jersey Clipper expected to berth alongside USS Intrepid at 15:30 local time in New York.

The rest of the fleet remains well spread out and the next yacht, Hong Kong Clipper, was expected to cross the finish line at 07:00 local time today, Sunday, 24 August.
