Opening Ceremony

Yesterday evening the mayor of Medemblik opened the XXV J/24 Worlds. In front of the castle Radboud a J/24 Sponsored by KAS Bank Private Banking welcomed the competitors.

In a ceremony led by Dutch Class President Remco vd BERG, All competitors were welcomed to Holland.

Medemblik has been home to several J Europeans and Worlds before. It must be that Medemblik and Jboats like each other.

During the ceremony Geoff Evelyn announced his retirement as Class President. It was a hard moment for Geoff. After nine years of leading the International class he passed his presidency to Rudy Wolffs of Canada.
A special gift of the Dutch class was greatly appreciated. The wooden shoes we made for them fitted well.

Finally the J/24 Class Flag was hoisted and the fireworks were lighted.
