US sailors Augie DIAZ with crew Jon ROGERS have won the 2003 Snipe World Championship, which concluded on Friday in Sweden, by a small margin.
This was an exciting regatta start to finish; with varying wind strengths, challenging currents, and strong competition from 18 countries. It has been 22 years since American sailors have won this prestigious dinghy title.
In second place were fellow American sailors George SZABO and Brian JANNEY, who pushed the world champions right to the wire, and ended only four points behind in the final results.
Bronze medal position went to Francisco and Marina SÁNCHEZ (ESP), who despite a consistant scoreline in the changeable conditions, couldn’t quite get the edge on the American teams.
