The selection policy will be placed on the YNZ website in the near future and will be sent to all potential trialists. Those sailors not presently on the Olympic update email listing which will ensure that you regularly receive correspondence from Yachting New Zealand in regard to selection, drug testing obligations etc.. are encouraged to send your contact details to Peter Lester via email: peter@yachtingnz.org.nz so that you can be added to this list.
The first opportunity for all classes to win selection is at the ISAF World Championship, Cadiz, Spain in September 2003. Any sailor that places in the top 5 at Cadiz where there is no other New Zealand sailor in the top 10 will be nominated by Yachting New Zealand for selection in the Olympic team. If no sailor achieves a top 5 result, for active classes the trials take place in January 2004 off Torbay. Non-active classes have a series of regattas on which selection will be based.
