Light Winds plagued the ISAF Grade 1 Star Western Hemisphere Spring Championships, which concluded over the weekend in Gull Lake, Michigan.

The first day of racing dawned very light and it was not until 14:00 local time that a fickle 2-8 knot westerly breeze filled in. Nevertheless, a good race committee managed to get one race completed for the fleet.

There was a little more wind for day two and two races were completed, a cold wet day that saw many people shivering.

The fleet started at 11:00 AM and sailed two races. Both courses were triangle windward leeward triangle finishing to windward. The wind direction was to the east and varied back a forth 30 degrees. In Eric Lind’s words who was on the committee boat, “We were cold and wet the whole day.” The sailors from the Bahamas were shivering between races.
