Developed by the ISAF International Regulations Commission, this area will bring you information on the many developing Regulations that affect all types of boat owners and users around the world.
For a number of years, and as the worldwide governing body of sailing, the ISAF have been representing the interests of the worldwide sailing community on a number of maritime organizations. These include the United Nations based IMO (International Maritime Organisation) and the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) where regulations and standards are developed concerning not only the sport of sailing, but maritime use in general on a global basis.
Areas covered include developments on the reduction of piracy attacks, improving the widespread use and performance standards of radar reflectors, the environmental impact of anti-fouling and many other less conspicuous aspects such as the movement and control of ballast water to limit migration of foreign bodies into localized water, and PSSA (Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas).
The site will be constantly updated by ISAF representatives as they visit each meeting of the IMO and ISO working parties and report back on developments as they happen.
Other areas covered include how an IMO and ISO standard is developed and the other areas of work each organization undertakes. As well as a comprehensive section bringing you the latest news from all regulating bodies and related issues.
