Gulf Event Commences
Competitors from more than eleven nations have converged on Salmiya, Kuwait for the first Al-Kharafi International Regatta in the Optimist and Laser Classes.

Competitors from more than eleven nations have converged on Salmiya, Kuwait for the first Al-Kharafi International Regatta in the Optimist and Laser Classes.
The event is being held by the Kuwait Sea Sports Club as an annual event in memory of the clubs first head, Mohamed Abdul Mohsen Alkharafi, and has been opened to international competitors for the first time in 2002.
Racing for the twenty boat Laser Class started yesterday and currently three races have been completed in a moderate south easterly breeze which saw Jbankov Timofey (RUS) prospering with two firsts and a second and leads Allan Julie (SEY), ranked 27 in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings by eight points.
The Optimist fleet start their racing tomorrow with four races scheduled and the event concludes with a closing ceremony and prize giving on Friday.
