Peponnet Wins

Thierry Peponnet (FRA) won overall by just two points from Nantes St. Nazaire in an event that could have been won by any of the top four going into the last day of racing today.

Positions all went down to the very last race of the eight sailed over the last week and gave a credible second place to the 2002 Tour Voile winners Nantes St Nazaire, helmed by Loic-Pierre Berthet. Third went to Vasco Vascotto on K-Yachting 1 with fourth and first amateur going to British boat Asterix, helmed by David Evans, causing some surprise amongst the French Mumm 30 fleet.

The local crew on Marseille with Dimitri Deruelle on the helm finished the last race with a popular and emphatic win. After a good start they managed to hold the lead for the entire race and were followed in by Asterix. Vasco Vascotto, K-Challenge 2 and Nantes St. Nazaire.

The conclusion of the 2002 edition is excellent, the high level of the competition, the number of participants and the atmosphere on the dock have once again proved the passion of the participants – professionals and amateurs – for this regatta, who also took advantage of a nice weather at the end of the sailing season, allowing them to show all their talents on water.
