Day three of the IFDS World Disabled Sailing Championships saw ideal conditions with 8-14 knots of breeze. Both fleets completed 2 races so the organisation are back on target after being forced to cancel racing on Monday due to strong winds.

In the Sonar fleet, 1996 Paralympic gold medallist Andy Cassell with Brian Harding and Ed Suckling (GBR) revelled in the conditions to overhaul the overnight leader and top the table. Cassell scored a 4th and a 3rd to show that consistency pays and pushing the German team of Jens Kroker, Hans Peter Reichl and Ludger Grother into down into 2nd overall.

Defending champions Brian Mackie sailing with Brian MacDonald and Paul Tingley (CAN), had the best day of the fleet and propelled themselves up onto the podium and to equal points with Kroker by taking the bullet in both races.

Out on the 2.4mR course, the 2000 Paralympic Gold Medallist Heiko Kroeger (GER) showed his form, scoring a first and a second place, to give him a ten point lead over second placed Jostein Stordahl (NOR). Jens Als Andersen (DEN) is currently lying in third positon after posting his second bullet of the championship in Race 5.

With racing back on schedule, the competitors have the afternoon off to enjoy an organised boat trip around Amsterdam. Racing continues through until Friday 27 September with a total of nine races scheduled.
