A day of mixed conditions saw a number of the leading sailors scoring their worst result of the week so far. A 12 knot easterly wind was a lot more consistent than the previous day even though it was coming off the land.
A day of mixed conditions saw a number of the leading sailors scoring their worst result of the week so far. A 12 knot easterly wind was a lot more consistent than the previous day even though it was coming off the land.
Series leader, Karlo Krpeljevic CRO, was one of those who scored badly in the first race of the day. He currently drops his 12th place finish but has the comfort of knowing his closest rival, Chris Ashley from USA, is also dropping a 12th from the qualifier series.
In the second race the wind dropped to 7 knots after the first windward leg but Krpeljevic, Ashley and third placed Orkun Soyer from Turkey were already out in front. Ashley had the best day of all the overall leaders and with 4 more races to sail can still overtake Krpeljevic.
In the women’s fleet Katarzyna Szotynski POL continued her impressive form, again scoring the best results of the day. Looking for her third successive title she seems at ease in all conditions. Her second and fourth places today were her worst daily results of the week. Her fourth place becomes her discard so she still has a good advantage over second place Miranda Powrie who scored a first and sixth place which she is currently counting.
All competitors may drop a second result if 2 out of the remaining 4 races are completed in the next two days.
