Maiden|s Attempt on Discovery Route Abandoned

On Sunday 21 April 2002 Maiden II abandoned their attemtp to break the Route of Discovery Record.

The World Speed Sailing Record Council (WSSRC) received confirmation from Adrienne Cahalan, co-skipper and navigator that:

“On Day 11 April 21 at approximately 1900 in position 23 48N 71 04W we abandoned our attempt to break the Route of Discovery Record. We intend to undertake this record at some time in the future.”

Understandably, Maiden II abandoned the attempt as they were not in striking distance of breaking the record.

However, they will no doubt be back for another go.
