Ben Lamb Dominates

In an outstanding performance by a young sailor, 18-year-old Ben Lamb has just won the Australian Laser Championship at Albany in Western Australia. Second place went to 17-year-old youth sailor Tom Slingsby.

Lamb, from Lake Macquarie, was tied with Queensland’s Brendan Casey, 24, going into today’s final two races. He managed a clean start in the first race and sailed consistently in the shifty airs to finish fourth, while Casey dropped back in the pack and out of contention. Another third place in the last heat, sailed in 15-18 knot winds, sealed the regatta, giving Lamb his best ever Open results. He had never beaten Casey previously.
