Ice Warning

Alert – Tyco and illbruck sighted icebergs this morning – keep a good lookout! The bergs sailed north with the strong southwesterly winds even though the sea temperature is still at 11 centigrade.

Air temperature is still a comfortable 14 degrees, waves average of 3.5m (5m max) and the wind topping 33knots.

Tyco and ASSA ABLOY are fighting for the lead within a mile of each other as they are blasting full speed to the east. ASSA ABLOY recorded the second fastest top speed with 28.8 knots. This was only topped by djuice’s 29.1 knots. SEB in third is facing a slight dilemma in the quest for the lead as Gurra Krantz writes: “How much should we try to keep our course high to stay with the same separation? If we sail higher to the wind we slow down, if we sail low and keep speed up we sail more out of the lift.”

Slightly back, Amer Sports One and djuice are fighting in sight of each other. Illbruck is still sacrificing speed for a better long-term position, diving south, while Amer Sports Too decided for speed on the most northerly route. News Corp to the south is aware of the icebergs and tries to get back in contact with the fleet.
