Pleased Amer Sports Too

Under the bright light of flood lights Amer Sports Too powered with eased sails towards the finish line, guarded by several spectator and media boats at 3am local time in drizzling rain.

For the last half mile, the wind kicked in and the yacht accelerated once again, showing the assembled media, that they are still racing.

Crossing the line, they lit up white flares on both sides of the yacht illuminating the scenery, when the wind dropped in the lee of Table Mountain.

Once alongside at Victoria and Alfred waterfront, a crowd of journalists surrounded Lisa McDonald, the skipper of the grey and red yacht. Lisa said, “even though we came last, I am very pleased with the performance of the yacht and the crew. Over thousands of miles we could stay with the guys that sailed together for more than two years.”

All the boats have now finished Leg 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race from Southampton, England to Cape Town, South Africa.
