China Coast Regatta got underway yesterday morning in near perfect conditions, with 18-20Kn easterly winds contributing to fast and exciting cruiser racing.
In an eventful race start for the IRC Division A, three boats broached the line before the starting signal and were ruled OCS by Race Officer, Jimmy Farquar. Only Neil Pryde on Hi Fidelity observed the recall, leaving Karl Kwok (Tickled Pink) and Fred Kinmoth (Stella) to finish the race without recording a time.
IRC Line honours were taken by Frank Pong on Jelik in 02:43:29, ahead of Sam Chan’s Ffree Fire (02:57:09) and David Kong’s Hocux Pocux 2 (03:01:27). In the HKPN 22NM island race, Windseeker (John Blay) finished first in a corrected time of 03:38:11.
