Better Winds On Day Two

The day started with very low winds and calms. After several hours of waiting on the water, only 49ers were able to complete one race. The Race Committee wisely decided to send the 49ers and Mistral to wait ashore.

Finally, at noon, the predicted southwesterly wind established itself, and racing was started in 10 knots of wind. All classes except Mistral (it was too late to send them out on the water) completed two more races, with the wind slowly increasing. By the end of the 470 racing there was more than 30 knots of wind and several broken masts.

A protest amongst almost all the 470 Women will affect the outcome of the regatta as it is alleged that much of the fleet went around the wrong leeward mark.
