World Champion Dominates

Reigning Optimist world champion Sime Fantela of Croatia is dominating the 162 boat, 15 nation IODA South American Championship in Peru.

With six first places after eight races, only last year’s bronze medallist Bernardo Luz (BRA) looks capable of catching him in the four remaining races.

Sime, like around 60% of the sailors is using a chartered Argentinian hull, emphasising the “all boats are equal” nature of the Class.
