Team Adventure Across The Equator

After a run of 600 miles in 24 hours, the American catamaran was slightly slowed down on starting her climb up the North Atlantic towards the Straits of Gibraltar.

Unlike the boats ahead of her, Team Adventure steamed virtually unhindered through the Doldrums.

Warta-Polpharma is at last sliding along in the SE trade winds after having struggled through difficult seas and fickle winds. “The battle with the south Atlantic high has been won, and we are now sailing in the right direction with a better VMG and a better angle for passing the Doldrums” explained Dariusz Drapella in an e-mail to race HQ. “We have found some good sailing conditions, and we are carrying all our sails and sliding along on an easy sea”, continued Dariusz. “Every hour and every mile that goes by takes us nearer the line and we are anxious to reach Marseilles as quickly as possible.”

Lots of wind for Team Legato, which is beating into 30/35 knot winds, right on the edge of a low, but they should soon be on a beam reach in a strong westerly.
