OPTIMIST SAILOR - CURRENTLY 15yrs OLD BEGAN SAILING OPTI CLASS AT AGE OF 6 NONSTOP UNTIL NOW I am the currently ranked Nationwide 2nd at ILCA 6 sailing. Retired in 2023 from Optimist as 2nd Nationwide in Mexico and 1st as Team Racing Captain. My name is Alvaro, I am a Mexican High-Performance athlete, and I started my sports career at age of 5.5 years old. I am a young teenager dedicated to sailing. I train Monday to Saturday more than 4 hours per session, making sailing my lifestyle, without neglecting my studies in school. I really enjoy sharing my passion for sailing with friends, family and athletes from other states and countries.     I am always focused and motivated to achieve my goals. I have been a representative of the Yucatan State Sailing Team for 7 years and I have been a member of the Mexican National Team for four years. I have been Silver medal on my last two participation at the Annual National CONADE Games. I represented Mexico in the last three North American Championship 2023 in Antigua / Barbuda, 2022 Bahamas , 2019 Mexico. Also had my first-time participation on the South American Championship in Perú. I have participated on more than 120 regatas Nationally and abroad. Starting ILCA 6 will become a new challenge , as I am moving forward to at age 14. Will look forward to hard training and participate at most national and International regatas. Currently sailing for some KBYC regatas as well as Mexico.
