Hello, I’m Tomás, an autistic Chilean Ilca 6 Sailor. I’m 15.
I placed 3rd under-16 Ilca 4 at the 2023 Ilca Chilean Nationals, and now I’ve transitioned to Ilca 6, where I have some regattas won, I also have a more specific athlete curriculum if needed.
I have been sailing since 12, in 2019 doing only 6 months in optimist due to the coronavirus. At 2021 I came back to optimist for the National Clubs Regatta, in which I have placed 4th, having ever sailed only one regatta before of that.
Now I’m constantly travelling between zones for championships and clinics, for obtaining more experience, that it’s what I lack off the most.
I have the objective to go to the youth Ilca 6 worlds in Argentina and reaching the gold fleet.
About my autism : I have low needings autism. It doesn’t affect me to the point of having special needs, I considerate that being autistic gives me even more passion and perseverance for training and also for racing with the sailors that are more experienced than me, even with people that have raced big international Championships.
I also have an English language level qualified at CEFR B2 at Instituto Norteamericano.
