Cammas covered Fauconnier from the start and went on to win the final race, but Fauconnier slipped between the battle for second place between Géant and Banque Populaire to take third place, enough to give her the Championship by just a single point.
Karine Fauconnier is the first woman to skipper a victory in an ORMA Grand Prix "it was hot: the emotions and stress today! We had a lot to gain but also a lot to lose. It is the kind of stress which I did not know until now!
Groupama never gave up anything and didn't make any mistakes. It is a great satisfaction because two months ago, when the boat was in building site, we had no idea that we would win a Grand Prix, we do not imagine that we would have such a great time with the boat and crew. Tactician Luc Pillot and N°1 Romain TROUBLÉ practically did not know the multihull and they immediately very quickly adapted "
The next event for the ORMA fleet is the Grand Prix of Marseille 4-6 July.
