The America's Cup, first held in 1851, is the longest, continuously-running event in the sporting world. The winner of the 32nd America's Cup and Defender for the 33rd edition is the Swiss-based team Alinghi of the Société Nautique de Genève. The Challenger for the Cup is US-based BMW ORACLE Racing of the Golden Gate Yacht Club.
